Temple of tooth relic is the current resting place of the sacred tooth relic of Lord Buddha. Unquestionably the most important place to visit when visiting Kandy – “මහ නුවර” and certainly one of the most sacred locations to Buddhists all over the world.
The temple is actually the royal palace during the Kandy kingdom, the ruling place of the last monarch of Sri Lanka. The monarch was successfully overpowered by the British forces, with the help of rebellious reigonal rulers of the time. A feat no other European power managed to achieve through warfare, despite their technological superiority.
