Brief description…

Ella is a city in the midst of central hills of the island.

Altitude is lower relative to Nuwara Eliya – “නුවර එළිය”, so the climate is a balance of hot and cold, with abundance of rain.

There are several hiking trails that take you deep into the mountains to wonderful landscapes. The trail to 9-Arches Bridge is quite popular. Bit challenging yet popular is the trail to top of the Ravana Falls.

Ella is a good place to start the Train ride into the central hills. The train journey till Bandarawela station is guaranteed to be a treasured memory. Tickets to regular compartments are cheap and can be bought in person, over the vounter at the train station. But for those of you who prefer a guarantee of comfortable and more visibility, special compartments are also available, only upon early reservation.
