Jaffna – “යාපනය”

Note…

This is a scenic location.

The city is free to explore.

Brief description…

Jaffna is a city in the north end of the island. Being a peninsula separated from the main land together with the dry weather has resulted in culture and lifestyle unique to the area.

The area is still catching up in development since the Sri Lankan armed forces managed to bring the terrorist conflicts to a halt in 2008. Hence fancy hotels and resorts are yet to come to the area, but you can always find a modest bed and breakfast around the city limits.

Despite the harsh dry whether the area is covered in acres of plantations, specially Grapes.

The city is also home to several places with religious importance, such as the Nallur Kovil worshiped by Hindus and Nagadeepa Temple worshiped by Buddhists.
